I'm too poor and in college to fork over the $ for a manual for my savage can anyone help me out with the torque settings needed to put a top end back together? I'd Imagine only the head bolts need torqued and the valve covers are just a guess??? perhaps not??? I'd appreciate your help. My other question was...When replacing my seriously stretched out timing chain do I need to replace the timing gears as well, even though they look OK??? My chain tensioner spat it's guts out in may case, I was able to salvage the large spring and all the parts except a tiny little spring that puts pressure on a dog that is in charge of the tensioner, and a tiny little e' clip. I couldn't find a lil' spring to replace my missing one so I drilled out the hole it go's in so it was just a lil' bigger and used about half of a spring from an ink pen to save the day, it works great, just thought there might be someone out there who could use this white trash fix. I'd appreciate anyones help on this, and are there any special tricks I should know for putting a top end together?? thanks
